The time has come to announce our new fan contest! What is it, you ask?? It's the

#HSAnimeProject Fake Anime Screenshot Contest!

The rules:

Our theme for this contest is "My favorite scene from Homestuck is...".  You may draw any scene from any act of Homestuck, so pick your favorite!

You may use any style you'd like for this  contest. Want to do a style parody? OK! But we are asking for original fan art creations (not edited over screenshots for other existing anime). We also want these drawings to be new (made for the contest!). You may only submit your own art. edit: This does mean you can use a background from Homestuck if you'd like! (your own backgrounds are preferred still). Just not other anime! Examples have been provided at the bottom.

You can make either a screenshot still or a moving GIF animation. There will be two separate prize pools for these! Feel free to submit entries for both. They must be different images though! Not a still from your GIF. Two separate scenes!

Only one entry from each artist can make it into the top 5 we'll vote on. Our judges will work to pick their favorite 5 and then we'll leave it up to the fans to decide the rankings!!

The winners will be the favorite, most well done pieces submitted to our contest. . One person can place in both contests, but they can't place twice in the same contest. Do your best!!!

Those who offered prizes will be the judges to pick the top 5. They cannot enter the contest if they offered a prize for that section.



Best Screenshots:

1st - 2 Chibi Requests + 5 DA points, 2 chibis, writing piece, Anime or Homestuck Request, digitally painted bust, fully shaded digital chat pose, A fantroll or kid with a full bio and unique symbol + god tier drawing,  a speedpaint (two characters maximum)
2nd - Chibi Request, 1 chibi, writing piece,   fully shaded graphite chat pose, A fantroll or kid with a full bio and unique symbol
3rd - Comic request + llama, furball, writing piece, A fantroll or kid with a full bio and unique symbol



Best GIFs:

1st - Chibi Request + 5 DA points, 2 chibis, writing piece, free commission, Anime or Homestuck Request, 10 points,  a speedpaint (two characters maximum)
2nd - Chibi Request, 1 chibi, writing piece, full color transparent drawing, 5 points,
3rd - Comic request + llama, furball, writing piece, 2 points


NOTE:
will not be judging for the screenshots, only offering a prize (possibly for GIFs, depending on if they end up entering). Prizes will be shifted if necessary. That is all!

Additionally (for all participants):

is going to make sure to give out llamas to anybody she hasn't given them to already (the one free llama) so long as they enter the contest.

How To Participate & Important Dates

To participate, make your screenshot (any type of file) or GIF (GIF files only!!) and submit it to our gallery folder for this contest (hsanimeproject.deviantart.com/…). It may have any title and whatever you please written in the description. This means you must have a DA account to participate (make one if you don't have one!).

The contest will end on September 15, unless we don't get 10 entries for each section before then. Entries will be accepted at the latest on Saturday, September 14. There will be one week of judging, and then a few days of voting in the fan polls (these dates subject to varying changes, so no exact dates will be given yet).

Ideas and Suggestions!

If you've ever seen an anime before, it's usually subbed. Try adding subtitles (Engrish, perhaps?) to make it more realistic!

Good anime has good quality art! Include color and shading to make it look nice!

Think about effects you commonly see in anime. Is there one that would fit nicely into the scene you're looking for?? (think speed lines, question marks, interesting expressions or gestures, etc)

If you don't know what style to use, feel free to look to your favorite anime/cartoon for ideas!! Make sure your finished product has good lineart too!

You can use whatever headcanons and designs you want for this fan contest. Is there a specific one you want to make use of?
